Juvéderm®

Your skin consists of two main layers – the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis (outer layer of the skin) acts as the skin’s primary defense against the environment while the dermis (innermost layer of the skin) provides the skin with the support network. Most facial wrinkles occur within the dermal layer of the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule or protein. Like a sponge, its function is to absorb water which creates volume in the face, therefore hyaluronic acid can be thought of as the body’s internal moisturizer. As we age, hyaluronic acid diminishes and creates fine lines and folds. Juvéderm® can be used to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin. Results can last up to 18 months.

Treatment

Dr. Adelson will help to determine if you are a candidate for Juvéderm®, as well as the number and regularity of treatments best for you.

Your treatment will be performed in our office and the doctor will gently ease the Juvéderm® injectable gel under your skin to fill wrinkles and folds. The entire procedure only takes approximately 15 minutes. Because this procedure is non-invasive and non-surgical, you may return to your normal activities immediately.

Expectations

Juvéderm® typically provides optimal results with a single treatment. Juvéderm® is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved and results can last up to 18 months.
